The momentum of "New Year, New Me" is in full swing. There's an exciting energy stepping into the new year with the notion of new beginnings and a fresh chapter. While many take time to reflect, it’s also an opportunity to make personal commitments - being more active, spending more quality time with loved ones, finding new hobbies…as you establish your New Year goals, consider making this year the year you achieve your healthiest skin yet (trust us it’s more achievable than you think!)

We'll guide you through 12 simple skincare habits that you can introduce in 2024. Expertly created by our resident skincare guru, Charlotte Connoley, these rituals are simple, easy to implement and will give you BIG RESULTS. But before we dive into that, let’s see how long it will take for these habits to deliver visible results.

The 28-Day Skin Cycle

The 28-day skin cycle refers to the approximate amount of time it takes for your skin to complete a full cycle of cell turnover. During this period, your skin goes through a series of phases, including cell renewal, regeneration, and shedding of old skin cells. The cycle can vary slightly from person to person, but it generally takes around 28 days for new skin cells to replace the old ones.
For example, when introducing new skincare products or habits, it's often recommended to give it at least a few weeks (ideally a full skin cycle) to see the potential results. This highlights the importance of consistency in skincare routines, as regular and proper care can support the skin throughout its natural cycle and ensure you have healthy, glowing skin all year round!

#FUNFACT Did you know that it takes approximately 28 days for an individual to cultivate a new habit? So, by the time you’ve implemented the new habit your skin would have completed a full cycle so you can see the results with your own eyes. Now is the perfect time to re-look at your skincare routine with some expert tips from skin expert Charlotte.

Let's dive into our 12 transformative skincare habits for a radiant and refreshed complexion:

1. GUA SHA for Glowing Skin

Introduce a Gua Sha tool into your skincare regimen to experience the incredible skin and relaxation benefits it brings. The cool stone helps stimulates circulation, increases blood flow, and enhances the overall feel of your skin. Apply an oil before gliding the Gua Sha in outward motions, down the neck area, for a revitalising experience (we recommend our Rosehip Miracle Makeover Facial Oil).

2. FACIAL MASSAGE for Muscle Tone

Dedicate 5-10 minutes daily to a relaxing facial massage using a nourishing facial oil. Work along the jawline, stimulating lymphatic drainage by applying pressure around the ears, and circle gently around the eye and brow bones. The key is to move your hands outwards and upwards, relieving tension and promoting a smoother texture.

3. FLANNELS for Proper Cleansing

Ensure your cleanser is removed thoroughly by using a wet facial mitt, flannel, or muslin cloth. Proper cleansing is the foundation of a healthy skincare routine.

4. ROLLER IN SERUMS for Maximum Absorption

Boost the effectiveness of your serums by using a jade or rose quartz roller. Not only does it help evenly distribute the product, but the cooling effect of the stone feels refreshing on the skin.

5. SILK PILLOWCASE for Moisture Retention

Upgrade your sleep routine by using a silk pillowcase. Its ability to absorb less moisture than cotton allows your skin to retain more moisture, preventing the absorption of bedtime skincare products.

6. SPRITZ BEFORE Hyaluronic Acid for a Hydration Boost

Prioritise hydration by spritzing your skin with a hydrating facial mist before applying Hyaluronic Acid. This combination enhances the absorption of moisture, keeping your skin more hydrated throughout the day.

7. SPF Every Day, Always

Regardless of the weather, make SPF a daily essential. Protect your skin from harmful rays and free radicals to maintain a healthy complexion and prevent UV induced signs of ageing.

8. TREATMENT MASKS Twice a Week

Give your skin a mid-week and weekend treat with a detoxifying clay mask, a hydrating boost, or a rejuvenating sheet mask. When using hydrating masks, make sure to massage the mask into your skin and leave it on for approximately 20 minutes to reap the full benefits.

@cosygems I’m not one to #gatekeep, so here’s a recommendation for an effective, budget friendly, pore purifying mask from @superfacialist. I have a dry skin type but my pores do need a deep cleanse. This is gentle, non-drying and leaves the pores unclogged and skin soft. #facemask #gatekeeping #pores #skincare ♬ original sound - Marta Courtenay

9. VITAMIN C Under SPF

Layer your Vitamin C serum under your SPF for a double dose of protection against free radicals and sun damage. This powerful duo ensures your skin stays shielded throughout the day.

10. LED MASK for Cell Renewal

Invest in an LED mask to encourage cell renewal and aid in skin repair. Incorporate it into your daily routine for maximum benefits alongside your regular skin care products. For those who can’t get their hands on an LED Mask, daily facial massage and a personalised skincare routine to suit your needs and skin type is a great alternative!

11. PROFESSIONAL FACIAL Every 4-6 Weeks

For those who are lucky enough to enjoy regular selfcare appointments, treat yourself and your skin to a professional facial every 4-6 weeks. This allows for a reset, deep cleanse, and provides an opportunity for professional advice tailored to your skin's unique needs. If you can’t visit a professional facialist, why not get your friends, family, or partners together for a night of skin self-care and relaxation.

12. USE AN EYE CREAM

Don't neglect the delicate skin under your eyes. Incorporate an eye cream into your routine to keep this area hydrated and nourished, as regular moisturisers may not provide the specialised care that the eye area requires.
