As it is one of the most sensitive areas of the body, the face requires the most attention. Regularly using an exfoliating face scrub is the perfect way to remove dead skin cells and reveal a more youthful, radiant complexion by bringing a new layer of skin to the surface.
Maintaining a good double-cleansing routine by combining a thorough cleanser and facial scrub can help to detox and unclog pores, removing all traces of dirt, dust and external pollutants.
Stimulating the face through regular exfoliation is vital to promote the regeneration of skin cells and helps to renew the skin’s surface. Finding a suitable scrub is therefore extremely important… and it is easy to do so once you’ve identified your skin type.
For example, if your skin is prone to dryness, a hydrating scrub with slightly ‘rough’ particles will help to shift dry patches. In comparison, blemish prone/oily skin will require a slightly gentler approach to exfoliation; the integration of an exfoliating scrub with Salicylic Acid at this stage can be hugely beneficial.
The good news is, we have two creamy scrubs for the occasion – a Salicylic Acid Scrub for oily skin, and a Rose Scrub for dehydrated skin.
Excessive exfoliation can in fact strip the skin of its natural oils (which help to maintain natural elasticity), leading to an increase in dryness and additional irritation.
It can be difficult to understand how many times to use a face scrub every week to achieve optimum skin health – the challenge is, every skin type is unique and requires a different frequency of exfoliation.
For best results, it is generally advised that oily skin types use a face scrub 2-3 times a week (to detox congested skin), while exfoliating dry skin should be limited to once a week.
If you’re hesitant about trying one of our scrubs as you think your skin may be too sensitive, our Vitamin C Gentle Micro Polish Wash might just fit the bill.
An ideal choice for slightly dull skin – this brightening, gel-like consistency contains tiny, biodegradable micro-beads which help to resurface and polish the complexion while cleansing away the day.
