Hyaluronic Acid FAQs

Super Facialist Hyaluronic Acid Skincare

Hyaluronic Acid – this high-performance ingredient has taken the skincare industry by storm in recent years, and while the terminology may sound a little daunting, the ingredient itself is hugely beneficially.

Renowned for firming and hydrating the skin, Hyaluronic Acid is most frequently seen in firming skincare collections and is particularly beneficial for people who are starting to witness initial fine lines.

We receive a lot of questions about Hyaluronic Acid, which is the hero ingredient across our firming collection, so we’ve shared a list of FAQs and answers below.

What is Hyaluronic Acid and why is it beneficial for my skin?

In layman’s terms, Hyaluronic Acid is a large sugar molecule which naturally occurs throughout the body. It helps to maintain joint/eye health and keep skin hydrated, with a reported 50% of the body’s concentration being found in the skin.

Due to natural/everyday factors like dry climates, air conditioning and diverse weather, the skin is easily stripped of its hydration – so the benefits of replenishing the Hyaluronic Acid found within the skin is undeniable. Thankfully, this molecule is easily absorbed beneath the surface, so it really gets to work at locking in moisture and keeping dry patches at bay when topically applied.

Will Hyaluronic Acid suit my skin type?

Generally, we recommend our Hyaluronic Acid products to those concerned about the first signs of ageing (aged 30+) as the increase in moisture in the skin will help to plump the complexion and minimise the appearance of fine lines, but we do recognise that this ingredient is also hugely beneficial for dry skin types.

Will Hyaluronic Acid dry my skin?

Quite the opposite, actually – while the term ‘acid’ is often associated with detoxifying (drying) properties, this molecule is included within skincare ranges to increase hydration levels.

The only thing to consider is that some people (specifically those in extremely hot or dry climates) report excess dryness in the skin as the environment is not allowing the molecule to perform to its best potential.

What is the best way to apply Hyaluronic Acid?

A leave-on treatment is the most effective way to maximise results experienced when using acid-based products – we recommend applying a serum and then day or night cream to supercharge the concentration and results experienced.

When using wash-off products, e.g. cleansers with Hyaluronic Acid, we recommend massaging the product into the skin, leaving it on for a few minutes and then washing the excess away to really allow the product to get to sink into the skin. While small, this little technique will make a significant difference to your cleansing regime.

Do you have any tailored Hyaluronic Acid products for women?

Yes – there are six products within our core women’s range, including a cleanser (as recommended by India Knight), award-winning eye cream, serum, day cream, night cream, and neck and chest smoothing cream.

Not only has each product been boosted with our hero ingredient, Hyaluronic Acid, the entire collection is also super charged with the firming complex of Calcium and Copper which contribute towards the reduced appearance of fine lines.

What about Hyaluronic Acid products for men?

We’ve already spoken about our Hyaluronic Acid core range for women on numerous occasions, but did you know, we recently launched a new range including three Hyaluronic Acid infused products, specifically tailored towards men and their skins unique requirements?

Choose between our new Eye Cream, an SPF10 Moisturiser and Anti-Ageing Day Moisturiser.

  1. I use both your Hyaluronic and Retinol products which both suit my mature dry skin but I would like to know which one has the best firming effect.

    Your advice would be appreciated.

    1. Hi Yvonne, our Retinol collection is specifically beneficial for 40+ skin as this ingredient targets wrinkles, whereas the Hyaluronic Acid range is more suited to 30+ skin as it specifically helps to target fine lines. We hope this helps and do let us know if you require any further assistance.
